Does DeskRecall upload my files anywhere?
No. DeskRecall indexes the folders you choose and stores filenames, paths, thumbnails, OCR text, PDF text, summaries, and the search index locally on your Mac. The first public version does not use cloud sync, remote file upload, user accounts, or third-party analytics.
What file types can it search?
Images and screenshots (with OCR), PDFs (text extraction and OCR for scanned pages), plain text and notes (TXT, MD, RTF), and optional data/log files (CSV, JSON, LOG, XML, YAML).
Which folders does it index?
Only the folders you explicitly grant access to. macOS security-scoped bookmarks let DeskRecall re-open those folders on later launches, and you can add or remove folders any time.
What do I get during the trial vs. the free tier?
The 7-day trial unlocks everything in Pro. After it ends, the free tier keeps recent files and basic filename search for up to 300 indexed files. Pro unlocks unlimited indexing, OCR/PDF text search, natural-language search, rename tools, and the Index Manager.
